2007: In Review

What did you do in 2007 that you’d never done before?
I travelled by train across the country, saw the Pacific Ocean, the red woods, and visited a vineyard, among other things. I dated (and is continuing to date) someone for an entire year. I drove through a big city all by my lonesome. I had mono. I also finally put a TV in my room. (That last one doesn't sound too exciting, but trust me it is!)

Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
The only quasi resolution I made was at the beginning of this school year to work harder and I think I improved on this for the most part. This year, I plan on writing down all my resolutions, I just haven't brought myself to doing it yet.. Commitment is hard.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nobody close to me has given birth, but a number of girls who graduated high school in my class are pregnant/have had children. Freaky.

Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully, no.

What countries did you visit?
I have never left this country, but I did manage to leave the upper midwest this year! Hooray!

What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Money would be something I would like to obtain in 2008. In other words, a job. I would also like an ipod other than my 1GB nano.

What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
January 4th - The day Jason and I started dating.
(I'm not super with dates so bare with me here)
The week Jason and his family and myself went to California.

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I got on an airplane (a number of times) without peeing myself. Also, I took a summer class, which I thought I would never do, and actually did really well.

What was your biggest failure?
Not doing even better in my classes and letting myself live from day to day instead of finding stability in my life. One word: Procrastination.

Did you suffer illness or injury?
Mid February I managed to get mono. Other than that disaster, I didn't suffer too much.

What were the best things you bought?
A couple purses I really love, and an incredibly comfortable and cute pair of black heels. I didn't buy too much this year..

Whose behavior merited celebration?
I would say Jason's because he has somehow managed to put up with me the whole time! Also Justin's because he has really pulled things together this year.

Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Sadly, there are many more people that come to mind for this question than the previous one. Better luck this year I suppose.

Where did most of your money go?
Food. Food. Food. Food. You get the idea.

What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The trips I went on and visiting Jason over the summer

What song will always remind you of 2007?
Everything off of Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs by Hellogoodbye along with the first disc of Stadium Arcadium by Red Hot Chili Peppers

Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier.
ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner.
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer.

What do you wish you’d done more of?
I wish I would have spent more time with my dad. I also wish I would have read more.

What do you wish you’d done less of?
Procrastinating, stressing out over little things,

How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent Christmas Day at home with my parents and Christmas Eve at my aunt's house with my mom's side of the family. On the 22nd and 23rd I was in the cities with Jason's family.

How will you be spending New Year’s?
Jason and I went to a semi formal party that a friend was hosting. It was pretty quiet seeing as most people are home for break, but dressing up is always a good time.

Did you fall in love in 2007?
Yup.

How many one-night stands?
None. Not really my cup of tea.

What was your favorite TV program?
I'm still not much of a TV person. I kind of did the opposite and quit watching Grey's Anatomy.

Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
I wouldn't say hate, but I've definitely grown to distrust at one person who used to be very close to me.

What was the best book you read?
I didn't get as much of a chance to read last year as I would have liked, but I did enjoy Waiting by Debra Ginsberg.

What was your greatest musical discovery?
Red Hot Chili Peppers

What did you want and get?
Small things here and there. Such as before mentioned shoes.

What did you want and not get?
To live elsewhere, and an ipod.

What was your favorite film of this year?
I am REALLY not a movie person. It's not that I don't like movies, I just never see them. So I'm going to give two answers to this question and say that because Jason is in fact a movie person, I saw a number of movies that did not come out this year but were new to me. Also, I liked Ratatouille.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I am going to be perfectly honest with you and say that I don't remember. I know Jason came up to visit and that I went to Lucé with my friends, but that's all I got.

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Not getting mono and not procrastinating. Also, spending more time with my dad.

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
More earrings that 2006.

What kept you sane?
Jason, my friends, my dad, pep band, and the internet.

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
None of the above.

What political issue stirred you the most?
I'm was disappointed and a little surprised that the school referendum in my hometown did not pass.

Who did you miss?
A few of my friends and my parents when I would get to busy to spend time with them.

Who was the best new person you met?
I didn't meet too many new people last year, but I did meet Jason's family and love them.

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007:
I basically need to work harder and stop stressing over things that don't matter.

Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
If you don't have a song
To sing you're okay
You know how to get along
Humming

"Waltz (Better Than Fine)"
Fiona Apple
